The book has all but closed on Taysom Hill’s time with the New Orleans Saints. While many assume the same is true for his career, as a whole, The Denver Post’s Luca Evans and Parker Gabriel are predicting a reunion with Sean Payton on the Denver Broncos.
One huge point made is that ”Payton loves his guys.” The amount of former Saints he’s brought to Denver has made that much has been clear. He even signed Lil’Jordan Humphrey.
The question becomes is that enough to bring Hill to Denver?
Taysom Hill returning to football is nothing more than a pipe dream
Never say never and if there was anywhere Hill would land, it would be with Payton. However, it’s extremely doubtful he suits up for anybody next season.
I’ll give one caveat: if something drastic happens during the season, maybe Hill is able to be pulled off the couch for that. Signing before the season goes against what we’ve seen all offseason.
Hill has made no statements about his future, and he hasn’t retired. With the way Kellen Moore has answered questions about Hill and Hill selling his house, it’s clear the next step won’t be in New Orleans, whatever it is.
You’d think that there would be some sort of whispers about Hill generating interest in the offseason.
It’s been crickets for months. The closest we’ve gotten to Hill being projected to play is people throwing out the Broncos solely because of Payton’s presence. Not active interest but purely based on a connection.
It’s hard to fight the logic when discussing possibilities. It makes it plausible but there’s nothing yet to say it’s probable.
Hill’s age, health and production all play a part into this. It’s been quiet because Hill is an older player who didn’t look like himself after returning from ACL surgery. It feels like the natural end to a career.
The fact we’ve heard nothing from Hill suggests he may feel the same. This might be a situation even Payton won’t touch.
