Belle and Chad are headed to Italy! [Recap]

On today’s Days of Our Lives recap:

Cat and Belle run into each other in Horton Square. Belle knows they aren’t close but expresses Marlena’s Chad’s and her own concern about her connection to EJ. Cat shuts her down quickly and exits.

Chad Approves Leo’s Story on Counterfeit Gabi Chic

Leo and Chad are at the Brady Pub. Leo pitches a story about fake purses in the fashion industry and the connection to Gabi Chic. Chad is on board and gives him the green light. Just then, Belle arrives saying she found another clue. Leo inquires and Chad fills him in on Stefano’s chess set. Leo wants to hear more but he has an appointment with Belle’s mother. She asks him to keep the chess set on the down low and he agrees before jetting away.  

Belle says she found a word on the flier which translates to “long live Victor Emmanuel, King of Italy.” Chad smiles as she continues to describe all the other things this clue could mean. She notes a connection between Italy and the holy trinity but came up short. Chad says this investigation is harder than they thought. Belle assumes Stefano wanted to challenge her parents when he put the mystery in place. She thinks the next place to start is to figure out the person who is leaving them clues… possibly Dr Rolf. She wonders if they can smoke him out of hiding, but Chad thinks it’s bad news and refuses to put her in danger.

Belle says she understands if Chad wants to back out but she has to move forward to understand what Stefano intended for her parents. She wants to go to Italy to investigate the source of Stefano’s clues.

Gabe Receives Stefan’s Massive Inheritance on Days of Our Lives

Gabi is at the Hernandez House when Rafe arrives home and asks what’s wrong. She says she just got her DiMera inheritance and notes she has never seen that much money in her life. She thanks her brother for helping her prove she deserved Stefan’s portion. The only thing that would make it better is if Stefan were here to enjoy it with her.

Rafe asks what she is going to do with her windfall and she says she is going to pay back a debt and create a trust for Arianna. They get into the counterfeit bag issue, and Rafe says he has a unit at the FBI on it. Gabi doesn’t trust anyone and says she is going to investigate herself with the help of Leo and Gwen. She notes Gwen is pissed off about having bought a fake Gabi Chic purse whilst Leo wants to turn the situation into a juicy investigative piece for The Spectator.

Gabi says she has contacted a lawyer to send the company a cease and desist. Rafe’s FBI colleagues say websites pop up as quickly as they can be shut down and note it’s a billion dollar industry. He says the money goes to fund a lot of illegal activities, including organized crime and terrorism.

Sarah and Tate Confront Holly About Using Drugs

Brady connects with Sarah in the hospital lobby. They discuss Holly and Sarah says she gave in and will monitor her niece at home. Sarah heads off as EJ enters and hides. Tate approaches his dad and says he found pills in Holly’s bag. EJ flashes back to planting them in her bag when it sat unattended at the nurses’ station. Sarah returns to the station and is more than distressed to learn about Tate’s discovery. She says they appear to be Coriseal but will have them tested. In the meantime, they must talk to Holly.

Tate and Sarah arrive in Holly’s room and tell her that she can’t go home. Just then, Sarah pulls out a bag of pills and Tate says he found them in her bag and Sarah thinks they look like Coriseal. Holly says the bag has been empty for months and she didn’t pack it, Bonnie did. She breaks down, says she isn’t using again and is sick and tired of folks accusing her. Sarah heads out to grab something to calm Holly. Tate takes a seat and Holly says she can’t believe he doesn’t believe her. Sarah returns with the meds, and Holly throws her aunt and boyfriend out of her room. Afterwards, Holly spits out the med she cheeked.

Previous Days of Our Lives (DAYS) recap: Kayla Informs EJ He Is OUT As Owner of University Hospital

Cat and EJ are in his office when she hands him macaroons from Sweet Bits. He notes the sale of the hospital and tells Cat not to worry if he’s forced out. EJ will find a research position at DiMera pharmaceuticals for Mark and hire her on as his personal assistant. Cat is impressed by his generosity, and EJ says they’ve proven their loyalty and couldn’t possibly let them go. Cat says she would be honored to stay on as his assistant.

Later, Cat wonders what’s up with EJ and he admits he is rattled by everything happening at once. She offers to listen if he wishes to get anything off his chest.

Leo arrives to see Marlena and says he is feeling all kinds of broken. Marlena is certain Javi is the center of his heartbreak. He tells her the story about using his concussion to get more attention from his former beloved. Marlena doesn’t like it but then also notices Leo actually took off his wedding ring. Leo says hope is gone until Gus goes back to Texas and he spins a story about how he will fall in love with someone else. He promises he wouldn’t do anything to interject in Javi’s new love story and Marlena tells him how proud he is of her client and friend for his growth. Leo knows he has to let Javi go both physically and emotionally.

Later, Marlena slips up and tells Leo that Gwen may be very busy when her purchase of the hospital comes through.

Later…

Rafe goes through the counterfeiting process and how quickly they can produce knockoffs. She thinks of the very few people who have early access to her products and thinks she knows who is behind the whole thing.

Chad agrees to go with Belle to Italy, and she wonders when they can get going!

Leo worries aloud to Marlena about EJ possibly taking revenge on Gwen.

EJ appreciates Cat’s offer to listen but says he has everything under control. She reminds him, no matter where or when, she is there to support him.

Brady returns from searching the Kiriakis mansion and tells Tate and Sarah he found no sign of Coriseal. Tate says Holly denied everything and kicked them out of her room.

Holly is crying and packing her bag. Afterwards, she sneaks out of her room.
