Assassin's Creed: Black Flag Resynced - HMS Prince Legendary Ship Guide

Here is how to defeat the legendary ship HMS Prince in Assassin's Creed: Black Flag Resynced.

In Assassin's Creed: Black Flag Resynced, there are quite a few dangerous enemies you'll come across during your journey through the Caribbean. From rival pirate crews to the military to fearsome animals looking to take a chunk out of you, there's a lot to deal with. However, the apex predators of the waters are the four legendary ships.

One of these is the HMS Prince, which is arguably the most annoying of the four to destroy. While it's not the toughest, fighting this ship can be a headache due to the fog and its tendency to just run away. So if you're struggling to beat the HMS Prince, here's our strategy for bringing an end to this ghost ship.

How To Beat The HMS Prince

If you plan on fighting the HMS Prince, I strongly suggest you upgrade the Jackdaw as much as possible. From its weapon to the armor, you will need almost everything except the Fire Barrels at their final level if you hope to succeed. Additionally, you'll want to complete Deadman's officer quest to unlock the Cohort Mortar. This is a great item for this fight due to the HMS Prince's mobility, allowing you to do some additional damage during the battle.

Once the boss fight starts, the HMS Prince will come out of the fog and begin launching mortars at you. These do quite a bit of damage and can rapidly sink the Jackdaw if you don't brace against them. You can tell where the mortars are going to hit by the large orange circles in the water. When they start to blink, that's when you brace, as it signals they are about to make impact with the water.

The opening section of this fight is fairly standard, as the HMS Prince will attempt to keep circling you at max speed so it can keep launching a broadside at you. You have two options for this section: match its movements to exchange broadside attacks with it until the ship breaks off, or try to maneuver behind it and chase behind it using your bow chasers to damage the stern.

For those who decide to exchange broadsides, you'll want to get closer so you can use your Heated Shot to efficiently trade damage with this boss. If you're fast enough, use the Cohort Mortar by firing a few meters ahead of the boss so it drives right into it. This mortar launches quickly, allowing you to consistently damage this boss without the risk of missing.

After the HMS Prince loses a third of its health, the vessel will break off and speed away into the fog. Conventional logic says to chase after this boat, but it's basically impossible to catch. It also continuously launches mortars during this section, and there's a good chance you'll eventually lose track of it in the fog.

Because of this, once the HMS Prince runs away, stop chasing it and start driving in a small circle. This will make dodging the incoming mortars way easier, as the constant turning will ensure that you are almost never driving directly into them. If needed, hit the B button (Xbox) / Circle (PlayStation) to kill your speed and perform a sharp turn. You can use this to dodge any additional mortars you may hit.

Keep sailing in a circle until, eventually, the HMS Price returns and engages in its normal attempts to broadside the Jackdaw. Once it's back, you won't need to worry about the ship driving away. Continue moving alongside it, peppering it with a mixture of mortar strikes and Heated Shot broadsides to weaken the ship.

There is a chance it will try to run away again before losing another full chunk of health. If this happens, don't fall for the bait and chase after it. You want to remain patient during this battle, as trying to rush after it will cause you to almost certainly drive right into mortars. Wait until the HMS Prince returns and continue broadsiding it until there is only one-third of its health left.

Upon losing another third of health, it will, once again, retreat into the fog and fire a ton of mortars at you. Start sailing in a circle again, keeping your eyes peeled for the ship eventually coming out of the fog towards you. Now engage with it as you have previously and focus on damaging it as much as possible until its destroyed. The Master at Arms' ram ability does quite a bit of damage to the HMS Price, but you will need to really lead it since this ship moves fast.

Upon destroying the HMA Prince, you will earn its sails, hull color, figurehead, and wheel as cosmetic rewards you can equip on the Jackdaw. Plus, the fog will be lifted, making navigating these waters way easier.
