Arnold Schwarzenegger’s influence in the fitness world is unmatched. However, that influence is earned through hard work, staying relevant, and adapting over time.

But when it comes to adapting to new fitness trends, the 7-time Mr. Olympia does not blindly follow them. He analyzes them, tries them, then adopts them and suggests them to his fans.

One such suggestion was recently shared by Schwarzenegger, who admits to rejecting fitness trends and following science-backed facts.

On July 17, the 7-time Mr. Olympia shared an Instagram post where he added, “You know I love the work. But hard work is even better when it’s backed by good science.”

Sharing a short video of an expert, Arnold added, “Adam is one of my co-founders at Arnold’s Pump Club—and he’s the guy who makes sure what we share is backed by evidence, not hype, fads, or whatever is trending this week.”

In the clip, Adam was seen saying, “What do all great workouts have in common? The mentality of how people attack them. That is what we talk about when we teach you about first set mindset. This means that you are chasing the hard reps on every set.”

Adam later added that many individuals hold the mindset that performing a fixed number of reps, such as 15, 12, or 6, is sufficient to achieve the physique they want. However, the reps are not the real driver of their improvement. It is the process of how hard one pushes themselves during every set.

It is normal to feel motivated on some days and tired on others, but what matters is consistency. People need to push themselves in every situation.

Adam said, “You maximize the effort that you have in that day, and if you do that consistently, you will see results.”

Apart from that, Schwarzenegger also discussed some recent TikTok trends that the younger generation needs to avoid.

Arnold Schwarzenegger slams TikTok trends that people need to ignore

In a recent Arnold Pump Club article, Schwarzenegger discussed a survey conducted by Zing Coach.

He said, “The data says 56% of young adults get their fitness advice from TikTok. And 1 in 3 of you never check whether that advice is actually true.

I’m not saying this to insult you. I’m saying this because the people you’re trusting with your body and your health are often the same people who are trying to sell you something. They’re not coaches. They’re content creators. And there’s a massive difference.”

The bodybuilding legend highlights TikTok trends to avoid. The trends include:

  • Dry scooping pre-workout: Pre-workout powders are designed to be mixed with water and consumed before training. However, some fitness influencers show fans putting it directly in their mouths and consuming it. According to Arnold, this is not the correct way.
  • Ab Challenges: Workouts that promise visible abs within weeks are fake. It takes time. He said, “You could do a thousand crunches a day, and it won’t remove the fat covering your abs.”
  • The internal shower: the idea of flushing toxins out of the body through certain foods always irritates Schwarzenegger. He said, “Your liver and kidneys handle detoxification. They’ve been doing it since the day you were born. Chia seeds are fine! They have fiber that you need! They’re not a shower for your insides. That’s not a thing.”
