Apple is reportedly ramping up orders for the vapor chamber cooling components that are said to be used in the upcoming foldable iPhone as well as its 20th anniversary iPhone models, according to Fixed Focus Digital over on Weibo.

Apple has asked suppliers to produce about 10 million foldable iPhones in 2026, which is up from the earlier forecast of around 7 to 8 million units. The foldable iPhone, which we believe will be called ‘iPhone Ultra’, is said to feature an “impressive” vapor chamber cooling, with tipsters claiming that the company is “going all out” with the device’s thermal engineering.

The iPhone 17 Pro series was the first iPhone to use vapor cooling, which was much needed after how hot the iPhone 16 Pro series was getting. The system was able to move heat away from the A19 Pro chip and distribute it through the device’s aluminum unibody frame, which is also why Apple moved away from Titanium.

Apple’s 20th Anniversary iPhone is coming next year, with a vapor chamber too

Next year, Apple is also set to introduce the 20th anniversary iPhone, which has been leaked to have an edge-to-edge display with glass that curves around all four sides. This is something we’ve seen from some Chinese manufacturers before, though most have gotten away from curved displays now.

There are expected to be two anniversary models next year, in sizes similar to the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, so think of a 6.3-inch and a 6.9-inch option.

This same leaker also said that Apple’s “preferred approach” for the iPhone 20 is a return to glass, and that the relevant manufacturing facilities have been renovated to advance this project already. Seeing as Apple is likely most of the way done with preparing the 20th anniversary iPhone, this makes sense.
