Shut up, shut up, shut UP! Anne Hathaway just gave a "Princess Diaries 3" update that will leave fans waiting even longer to see her return to her beloved character as Queen of Genovia - and we couldn't be more disappointed.

In an appearance on SiriusXM's Radio Andy, Hathaway opened up about the project that has been in the works for two years. When host Andy Cohen asked where she is on making the film, which will be the third in the trilogy of movies that came out in 2001 and 2004, Hathaway gave an update no one wanted.

"I'm busy making baby number three, and that has sort of taken the place of knowing exactly when I can make ‘Princess Diaries 3,'" Hathaway said.

"But, I can say I think we had a story breakthrough," "The Odyssey" star continued. "I think we are moving in the right direction. The script that we were working on - we kind of had to start over with this new direction, which is not the update I think anybody wants, but we all feel really good that this is gonna be the one."

Luckily, fans were mostly supportive of this new delay. "Take the time for this! We are okay with that!" one person commented. Someone else said, "idc how many re-writes they do. As long as it's good enough to stand next to the first two movies." After all, fans have waited over two decades for a sequel, so we can wait a little longer!

The one thing everyone can agree on? They want Hathaway's "Princess Diaries" co-star Julie Andrews tot make an appearance in the film's third installment. "Anne is worth the wait. She has proved that. Let her COOK! Just not at the expense of Julie Andrews going into retirement while we wait…" they wrote.

The late director Garry Marshall was behind the first two films, and his daughter, Kathleen Marshall, told People in April 2026 that the third movie was still in the works and that she's "excited to be a part of anything."

"We're moving it along," Kathleen went on, adding that she exchanges emails with the "Princess Diaries 3" producer Debra Martin Chase. "I mean, there's just an incredible team in place. So it's coming. It's coming."

In the meantime, Hathaway is busy promoting five movies this year, including "The Odyssey," and showing off incredible maternity fashion as she is pregnant with her third baby with husband Adam Shulman. On July 19, she told People, "I'm at an age and a moment in my career where I know stuff like this doesn't come around very often, and certainly doesn't last forever. So I'm just gonna surf this wave for as long as it lasts, I'm going to enjoy being on my board, and then when I fall in the water - that'll be that moment." We definitely don't see that happening anytime soon!
