If you still believe in the potential and functionality of modern flip phones or simply want to buy a cheaper foldable device than the book-style Galaxy Z Fold 8 or Z Fold 8 Ultra, it might be a good idea to consider pre-ordering the brand-new Galaxy Z Flip 8 on Amazon right now.

You could obviously do that through Samsung as well, but without a device trade-in, the world's number two handset vendor can only hook you up with $150 e-store credit. That's certainly better than nothing, but it's also undeniably worse than the $200 gift cards Amazon throws in with early Z Flip 8 purchases in both 256 and 512GB storage variants.

If you'd rather get one of Samsung's latest and greatest book-style foldables, both the Z Fold 8 and Z Fold 8 Ultra are on sale together with precious $350 Amazon gift cards right now.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 Powered by a Samsung Exynos 2600 processor and a 4,300mAh battery capable of charging at 25W speeds and equipped with 120Hz refresh rate-supporting 6.9 and 4.1-inch screens, the Galaxy Z Flip 8 looks and sounds extremely similar to its predecessor. But that doesn't mean it should be completely ignored, especially in a special bundle with an always handy $200 Amazon gift card. Pre-order at Amazon

Keep in mind that Samsung's latest clamshell-style foldable is tragically (although unsurprisingly) costlier than last year's Galaxy Z Flip 7, starting at $1,199.99 instead of $1,099.99 and fetching $1,399.99 (up from $1,299.99) in its digital hoarder-friendly configuration.

Both models come with the same 12GB RAM count, of course, and they're both available in Graphite, Cream, and Pink colorways, all three of which are on sale alongside a complimentary $200 Amazon gift card at their list prices until their August 7 release date.

Rumored to be the last of its kind, the Galaxy Z Flip 8 is an admittedly lazy upgrade over its pretty successful predecessor, as it keeps everything from the 6.9 and 4.1-inch screens, 4,300mAh battery, 25W charging, 50 + 12MP dual rear-facing camera system, and 10MP selfie snapper unchanged.

The processor, meanwhile, is bumped up from an Exynos 2500 to an Exynos 2600... that's likely not as impressive as the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 inside the Z Fold 8 and Z Fold 8 Ultra, and perhaps most notably, the product weight is reduced from 188 to 180 grams and the thickness from 6.5mm in unfolded form and 13.7mm in folded form to 6.1 and 13.1mm, respectively.

Samsung's luck is that the Motorola Razr Ultra (2026) starts at an even higher price than $1,199.99, although the same cannot be said about the latest Razr Plus edition and last year's Razr Ultra flagship, especially at their latest discounts. Still, you're clearly looking at one of the best foldable phones money can buy in 2026, and indirectly, you might save the Galaxy Z Flip family from extinction if you decide to go for its newest member. Sounds pretty tempting, doesn't it?
