Usually, when a person doesn’t like someone, they tend to refrain from talking about them. But when it comes to Megyn Kelly and her clear disdain for former first lady Michelle Obama, that doesn’t appear to be the case. In fact, Kelly has often found multiple reasons to speak negatively about Obama, and we’ve got the receipts to prove it!
Kelly’s latest rant about Obama happened during a recent episode of her eponymous daily talk show on Sirius XM. At just over the one-hour mark, she decided to address remarks the former first lady gave at this year’s ESSENCE Festival of Culture. In the clip, Obama described how, in the early days of campaigning for her husband, news outlets focused more on what she was wearing than the message she was trying to convey. Obama then used that as an opportunity to remind the crowd that she had given powerful speeches for years; they just kept getting overshadowed by her outfits.
Mrs. Obama’s words prompted Kelly to go on a 12-minute rant against the “Becoming” author, describing her as a person who was “dripping in narcissism” and “thin-skinned.” Kelly went on to criticize Obama’s speeches as “scripted and artificial.” She also called out the alleged irony in Obama not liking the media for centering their coverage around her fashion.

“Stop making everything an attack on you, you thin-skinned person! It’s just ridiculous. And by the way, if she’s so upset about our ‘focus on her fashion,’ why did she pose for Vogue four times on its cover? Why did she just do a whole book about fashion? Why didn’t she release a book on ‘My Policy Prescriptions for 2026 America?’ Where’s that? She wants to be known for her fashion, but it has to be on her terms, you see,” Kelly said.
Earlier in July, Kelly criticized Obama over a new presidential center portrait, in which she appears seated right next to her husband, former president Barack Obama. After listening to Mrs. Obama describe the painting as a symbol that her husband isn’t threatened by having a “smart, challenging partner,” Kelly turned her explanation into an allegation that Obama hates her husband and “can’t stand him.”
Kelly’s newest remarks also come a little over a year since she last heavily criticized the “The Light We Carry” author on her show. In May 2025, after Obama appeared on the “Diary of a CEO” podcast and gave her honest opinions on the hardships of marriage and having children, Kelly called Obama “depressed” and said that she had the most “negative, dark outlook on life” that she’d ever heard from a public figure. Kelly also claimed that Obama “hated America,” “had no strong moral compass,” and claimed that the former first lady “needed an intervention.”
A month before that, Kelly described Mrs. Obama as “bitter” and “angry” about herself, her marriage, and the country. Before that, Kelly called her a “b*tch” who was “small-minded” and ungrateful to serve as first lady. And let’s not forget when she criticized Obama for talking about the struggles Black women face when it comes to their hair and conforming it to society’s comfort. And this is just in the last year alone.
For someone to have so much vitriol and disgust towards another person, Kelly sure does spend a lot of her time going after Obama when we’re pretty sure the former first lady couldn’t care less about what she has going on. So why does Kelly keep this one-sided feud going? It’s likely because Kelly knows it’ll grab folks’ attention and get people talking, and because actually talking about her own life and the positive contributions she’s made in this country wouldn’t match up to the ones Obama made.
But we’ve got to keep it a buck: With all these legitimate issues going on in the country, it’s about time Kelly actually finds some real news to talk about. Instead of bumping her gums about a woman who clearly isn’t thinking about her, she ought to spend that time actually adding something meaningful to the political conversation.
