The 33-year-old Alisson Becker has served as Liverpool's No. 1 goalkeeper for eight seasons, winning a pair of Premier League trophies and a host of individual awards.
Rumors swirled throughout the second half of the season that Alisson, Brazil's starter in net at the 2026 World Cup, may consider a move to Juventus. Ultimately, no deal was agreed upon.
New Liverpool coach Andoni Iraola fielded a question at his Chicago press conference on Tuesday about the team's goalkeeping positioning, citing the Reds' backup options and Alisson's presence as examples for younger players.
He called the goalkeeping room of Alisson, Giorgi Mamardashvili, and Freddie Woodman a "guarantee" in a clear message that nobody is going anywhere.

"I’m very happy with the situation we have right now in the goalkeeping area," the first-year Spanish manager told reporters. "We have Alisson, we have Giorgi [Mamardashvili]."
"We are going to send on loan, for example, Armin [Pecsi], goalkeepers that probably are in another phase....The three of them here, [Alisson, Mamardashvili, Freddie [Woodman] played some games [in the] past season, I think it’s a guarantee for us."
Iraola, who will need to rely on the team's veteran leaders following a disastrous 2025/26 season under Arne Slot, called Alssion a "reference" to the changing room.
"Alisson is someone also in a changing room that has lost some references in terms of experience, I think he’s someone that definitely will help us in this process of adaptation of the new signings, of the new players, the young players," the former Borunemouth boss shared.
"We need the references like Virgil [van Dijk], like Alisson, like Joe Gomez, players that have been here for a long time. And I’m sure we will have this help, yes."
Alisson, a late arrival to the AXA training center due to Brazil's run to the World Cup Round of 16, will return to training on Merseyside alongside Virgil van Dijk and Cody Gakpo.

The rest of the team — outside of the likes of Victor Munoz and Alexis MacAllister – have left England for the United States as Liverpool prepares for its preseason tour.
Iraola called MacAllister one of the best players at the club and expressed his wish to keep him at the club. "it is normal that other clubs want our best players," he said.
"It always happens in other markets. But I want to keep my good players. I'm looking forward more to signing new players rather than losing the ones we have here."
