Ale-8-One’s special “Kentucky Banana” soda, the Pawpaw Ale-8, is returning for a limited time, and when it runs out, it’s gone forever.
The Central Kentucky soda company known for its unique citrus-flavored ginger ale soda announced on Monday that it’s bringing back Pawpaw Ale-8. The specialty flavor was previously released late last summer.
“The fans spoke last year grabbing all of the Pawpaw Ale-8 they could get after tasting this Kentucky tropical sensation,” Sean Wachsman, Ale-8-One’s vice president of marketing, said in a news release. “With it being Ale-8’s 100th birthday, we wanted to expand this popular pawpaw treat beyond the shores of Kentucky into the surrounding states.”
Pawpaw Ale-8 is a tropical flavor similar to a combination of banana, pineapple and mango. The pawpaw plant has been a key topic for research at Kentucky State University, the “the only full-time pawpaw research program in the world,” the university previously said.
It’s unknown how long the renewed supply is expected to be on sale. Ale-8-One said once the current batch sells out, the soda flavor will be gone forever. The special soda will also be available on fountain at Windy Corner Market in Lexington.
“Get it while you can because when it’s gone, it’s gone,” Ale-8-One said in a Facebook post.
Ale-8-One’s regular rotation line includes the original Ale-8-One, Ale-8 Zero Sugar, Cherry Ale-8, Cherry Ale-8 Zero Sugar, Heritage Ale-8, Caffeine Free Ale-8 Zero Sugar, Orange Cream Ale-8 and Blackberry Ale-8. The cherry, orange cream and blackberry flavors were previously seasonal flavors, later added to the main lineup.
Ale-8-One has previously featured strawmelon, peach and the company’s founding flavor, Roxa Kola, as seasonal flavors.
