Alan Ritchson Makes Major 'Reacher' Announcement as Series Reaches Key Milestone

This is good news for fans who want to see new episodes of 'Reacher' every year.

The fourth season of Reacherhasn't even debuted yet, but we're already getting great news about Season 5. Alan Ritchson, who plays burly wanderer Jack Reacher, posted a video to TikTok and Instagram revealing that filming on the fifth season has officially begun.

"Good morning, my little angels. It's time to rise and shine. It's very early where I am, so don't even talk about how tired I look; I'm a human too. The sun's not even out yet!" Ritchson says. "That's how early we get up for a very special day: it's day one of shooting Reacher Season 5. That's right, we are back, baby."

After that, Ritchson plays a game he calls "How do you know you have ADHD?" Then he reveals that the dinner he meant to eat last night is apparently still in the microwave. "Doesn't do me a lot of good in there," he says. Watch the video below:

Last week, Ritchson made it sound like filming on Reacher Season 5 was going to start very soon. "Yeah, we know [which book we're adapting]. The season's been written. We're ready to shoot. All the scripts are done," he said. "The last half of my year is going to be all Reacher Season 5." Clearly, he wasn't bluffing.

Ritchson may know which of Lee Child's Jack Reacher books is being used as source material for Season 5, but we don't. The first season of the show adapted the first of Child's novels, Killing Floor. The second adapted the eleventh novel, Bad Luck and Trouble, and the third season adapted the seventh book, Persuader. Given how the show has jumped back and forth through the series, it's all but impossible to know what comes next.

That said, we do know a fair amount about Reacher Season 4. It's based on the thirteenth novel in the series, Gone Tomorrow, and will start with Reacher spotting a suspicious woman on a subway in New York City. From there, he gets drawn into a wider conspiracy involving a member of Congress, foreign operatives, and a terrorist cell.

The first three episodes of Reacher Season 4 will drop all at once on Prime Video on Aug. 12. After that, they'll come out at a rate of one per week through September 16, which is also when Prime Video will debut the new Reacher spin-off series Neagley. That show will revolve around Jack Reacher's most trusted friend, U.S. Army Master Sergeant Frances Neagley (Maria Sten). All eight episodes will drop at once.

As for Season 5, if filming is already starting weeks before Season 4 even debuts, we can rest assured that Reacher will stick to its yearly release schedule. Expect Season 5 to premiere sometime in the summer of 2027. In the meantime, both Reacher and Neagley will have a presence at San Diego Comic-Con later this week.
