The Alabama football program is less than two months away from kicking off the 2026 college football season. The Crimson Tide are looking to bounce back after their season ended in unceremonious fashion against the eventual national champion Indiana Hoosiers in the Rose Bowl last year.
One of the most talented players returning to the roster this year is wide receiver Ryan Coleman-Williams, who had an outstanding freshman season in 2024 before falling back down to Earth in 2025.
Recently, college football insider Bill Connelly of ESPN broke down why the pressure is on Coleman-Williams to bounce back this season.

Connelly stated that Coleman-Williams needs to “…Ryan Coleman-Williams (get) rid of the yips. Among regular targets, no one in the country suffered a higher drop rate than Coleman-Williams’ 13.0%. The QB of choice will desperately need him to look like the No. 1 receiver he was supposed to be.”
Indeed, Coleman-Williams suffered some brutal drops for Alabama this past season, including dropping a sure touchdown in an early-season game against the Georgia Bulldogs on the road, among other crucial mistakes throughout the campaign. In fact, by the end of the year, the star was sometimes kept off the field altogether for key sequences, indicating a lack of trust on the part of head coach Kalen DeBoer.
It was a stark contrast to the previous season, in which Coleman-Williams burst onto the scene alongside Ohio State star Jeremiah Smith as one of the more talented freshmen in recent college football history, making several huge plays for the Crimson Tide in 2024.
Alabama will need him to rediscover that form heading into the upcoming season if they want to have a chance of contending for a national championship.
