In a viral Reddit post, a homeowner found a fluffy kitten abandoned on their porch — then they took a closer look and realized just what it was.
The post, shared on October 6th by u/Affectionate_Lime880, features pictures of the small feline playing with the poster on the porch, however, this is not a domestic cat but a bobcat cub.
“Abandoned bobcat kitten on my porch”, the caption reads, “This cute little [motherf*****] just showed up this morning, being surprisingly chill. It let me sit next to it and pet it. At some point, it showed me it’s belly and started to purr.
“Did this thing just imprint on me lol? I know you can’t fully domesticate bobcats, but they are just acting very sweet. [What the f***] should I do?”
Kelley Stewart, professor of wildlife ecology at the University of Nevada, Reno, told Newsweek that the cub’s mom would likely return for the kitten unless something had happened to her, like getting hit by a car, for example.
“The best thing to do is leave it alone and stay away from it. I would recommend calling the state department of wildlife; they have people that deal with human-wildlife conflicts, which this may or may not end up being.
“Bobcats live all around Reno. I’ve seen them in my neighborhood and definitely in the sagebrush areas. They live just fine around humans, but definitely leave them alone and do NOT put food out. They are very self-sufficient,” she added.
In the comments section, the poster clarified that they did get in contact with a wildlife rescue service which was due to be picking up the animal.
“I want to make it clear that this is not my pet or should ever be a pet. It is a wild animal, they belong in the wild. Do not keep these animals. They belong in nature,” they added.
The video quickly went viral on social media and it had so far received over 103,000 upvotes and 3,100 likes on the platform at the time of writing.
One user, Theladyofspacetime, commented: “Tell him I said pspspspsps.”

Deezconsequences added: “If its not a friend then they wouldnt have made it friend shaped.”
