Aaron Rodgers appears to be reconciling with his family after a lengthy estrangement.
The Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback posted a series of photos on Instagram Monday showing himself with his parents and brother Luke. Rodgers captioned the photo “Another bonding week.”
The Athletic columnist Ian O’Connor revealed that Rodgers’ efforts to reconcile with his family have been ongoing. In April, he invited his parents to his Pleasant Valley High School Hall of Fame induction and thanked them in his speech.
O’Connor previously wrote a book about Rodgers in which he revealed the initial causes of the quarterback’s longtime estrangement from his family. The issues have lingered for at least nine years, but went public in 2017.
More recently, Rodgers suggested in 2022 that it was possible he would reconcile with his parents, though at the time there was no indication any steps had been taken to do so. As recently as last summer, his immediately family were reportedly left unaware of his marriage, so there was clearly some distance that remained.
Rodgers is getting back in contact with his family as he prepares to embark on what he has said will be his final NFL season.
