Create Your Dream Closet

One of my (many) 2026 goals is to reorganize my closet, and since I live in a tiny NYC apartment, it can be difficult to make the most out of the space I have. So, I reached out to a professional organizer for expert recommendations on organizers worth investing in, all of which are under $50 on Amazon

“My favorite part of organizing for a living is seeing the immediate shift, not just in the space, but in how people feel once their home starts working for them,” Shannon Littlehale, the founder of Make Space Home Organizing, told me. “There’s something incredibly rewarding about creating systems that reduce daily stress and genuinely support someone’s life long after the project is finished,” Her picks are definitely going to help transform anyone’s closet space, including areas such as one’s closet racks, drawers, and shelves.

According to Littlehale, shoes most commonly pile up on shelves and floors, which is why she loves this over-the-door shoe organizer to keep them off the floor. It hangs on the back of the closet door, which she finds frees up floor space and keeps shelves clear for folded items and bins. “Having all shoes in one designated spot immediately reduces visual clutter and makes the closet feel calmer and more intentional,” she said.

“The Uni Himo Clear Shoe Organizer is a great solution for closets where you already have good shelf space but still struggle with a large shoe collection,” explained Littlehale. She noted that the clear, stackable organizers give each pair of shoes its own spot, instead of having them all jammed together. “By maximizing every inch of vertical and shelf space, they dramatically reduce visual clutter and make it easy to see and access what you own—which always makes a closet feel cleaner, more intentional, and easier to maintain.”

Zober Non-Slip Pants Hangers 20-Pack

Littlehale uses these non-slip pants hangers in almost every closet she works on, since they are simple to use, easy to grab, and keep pants securely in place. “The sleek, minimal design works in any style of closet, and they’re especially great for people who like to see what they own or simply don’t enjoy folding pants.” She added that the hangers “create instant order without adding extra steps, which is key for systems that actually last.”

BoxLegend Folding Clothes Board

Everyone should have a BoxLegend folding board, according to Littlehale, since it “creates consistent, uniform folds, which leads to neater stacks of sweaters and drawers that actually look picture-worthy.” She explained that beyond the clothing board’s aesthetics, it creates a more efficient folding process (aka faster and more intuitive) and helps teach kids how to neatly fold and put away their own clothes. “Simple tools like this make organization easier to maintain long term.”

StorageWorks Fabric Storage Bins

Another organizing staple that Littlehale and her team recommend for a more cohesive, easy-to-maintain closet is the StorageWorks fabric storage bins. “Having matching bins instantly creates visual calm, while still being incredibly functional,” she said. Littlehale stores small purses, sweaters, sandals, and travel items inside the bins, but they can also be used like drawers to store undergarments.

“I’m a firm believer that every bin needs a label, which is why I love these metal non-slip basket labels,” Littlehale told me. She explained that these label clips make it easy to add clear labels to fabric bins, so you can remember where to put things. “They’re built to last and won’t peel off with frequent use, and you can customize them with handwritten or printed labels. It’s a simple detail that makes a big impact on sustaining organization.”

This hat organizer creates an incredibly simple and efficient way to store hats, per Littlehale, and saves a surprising amount of space. She noted that it’s easy to install, use, and maintain, without any complicated setup. “By mounting on a wall or the back of a door, it keeps hats accessible while preserving precious shelf space for other essentials. It’s a smart, low-effort solution that keeps hats organized without adding visual clutter,” Littlehale shared.

To maintain an organized closet, Littlehale recommends these shelf dividers to keep your sweatshirts, jeans, and bags neat and upright, so piles of clothes or accessories don’t topple. “These simple dividers make every shelf feel intentional and tidy, turning cluttered piles into orderly zones that are easy to maintain,” she said.

Littlehale explained that this jewelry organizer is one of the easiest upgrades anyone can add to their space. “The simple adhesive design keeps necklaces and other jewelry visible, accessible, and completely tangle-free, no tools or installation stress required. she stated.” Littlehald also called out the “unbeatable” $5-for-two price, “making it a small investment with a big organizational payoff.” She added that this organizer is proof that you don’t need an expensive solution to make a meaningful impact.

Littlehale dubbed these clear pouches “one of those versatile tools for closet organization.” She noted that they keep swimsuits tidy and together, creating a visually calming effect. Littlehale added that the pouches can also be used for small accessories, such as fabric belts, scarves, and other items that tend to slip off hangers or get lost. “These pouches create a neat, contained home for items that are otherwise hard to organize.”
