A look at Florida basketball's offseason as fall approaches

Collegiate sports in the offseason have become difficult to follow, with NIL and players moving freely through the transfer portal, entering the NBA Draft, committing internationally or reclassifying from the high school ranks.

Florida, however, has largely avoided the chaos. The Gators are set to return much of their core entering the upcoming season, keeping the program in title contention.

Florida is expected to return its leading scorer, Thomas Haugh, who averaged 17.0 points per game last season, along with Alex Condon (14.9), Boogie Fland (11.7), Rueben Chinyelu (11.2) and Urban Klavzar (9.7). Isaiah Brown, CJ Ingram, Viktor Mikic, Alex Lloyd, Alex Kovatchev and AJ Brown are also expected to be part of the roster.

The Gators lost Xaivian Lee and Micah Handlogten to the professional ranks as they both wrapped up play in the NBA's summer league.

Olivier Rioux also departed from the program, while Denzel Aberdeen returns to the Gators after playing one season with the Kentucky Wildcats; however, he is in limbo and hoping for one last season of eligibility.

Florida did not add any transfers during the offseason but will welcome three incoming first-year college players with three-star Jones Lay and international prospects Arturas Butajevas and Domen Petrovic joining the program.

Continuity will be an integral part of the Gators' success this season as they hope to remain contenders throughout the season.
