A firefighter rescued a group of ducklings who waddled their way into a storm drain in northeast Charlotte Thursday morning, the fire department said in a post on social media.
The appropriately-named firefighter, Tristan Duckwall, climbed into the storm drain in the 9500 block of Grove Crest Lane to save the 10 ducklings.
Video showed firefighter Duckwall handing ducklings out one at a time to another firefighter standing nearby who counted them out loud. The ducklings’ high-pitched quacks can be heard as the firefighter reached in for more.
“Their very patient mom stayed nearby the entire time, waiting as her chicks were carried back to her one by one,” the Charlotte Fire Department said in the post. “Before long, the family was reunited and waddling on its way.”
