The 2026 MLB draft is this weekend. Here are the top 10 prospects and names to know

The 2026 MLB Draft takes place this Saturday through Sunday ahead of the All-Star break next week.

The Chicago White Sox have the No. 1 pick in the draft. The consensus among scouts is there are three top prospects in a class of their own: UCLA shortstop Roch Cholowsky, Fort Worth Christian (TX) High School shortstop Grady Emerson and Georgia Tech catcher Vahn Lackey.

Here are the top 10 players on the 2026 MLB Draft board according to five sources: MLB.com, Baseball America, ESPN, The Athletic and Yahoo Sports.

Cholowsky is the No. 1 player in four out of five rankings, and second to Emerson in MLB’s rankings. If selected first by Chicago, Cholowsky would become just the third college shortstop to be drafted No. 1 overall, along with Brown’s Bill Almon drafted by the San Diego Padres in 1974 and Vanderbilt’s Dansby Swanson by the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2015.

Emerson, considered the top high school prospect available, is ranked second on three other boards and fourth in The Athletic’s rankings. Vahn, meanwhile, is ranked No. 3 on four of five boards, and No. 2 by The Athletic.

When is the 2026 MLB Draft?

The 2026 MLB Draft begins at 1 p.m. EST on Saturday. The first four rounds will take place on Saturday, and the first 10 picks will be broadcast on NBC/Peacock. Picks 11-135 will be broadcast on MLB Network, MLB.com, MLBTV and MLB+ from 2:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m.

Draft rounds 5-20 will take place on Sunday beginning at 11:30 a.m. EST on MLB.com, MLBTV and MLB+.
