Jalen Hurts remains one of the NFL’s most respected players, even if his latest ranking will likely give him more motivation entering training camp.
The Philadelphia Eagles quarterback landed at No. 56 on the NFL Top 100 Players of 2026, the annual player-voted countdown produced by NFL Films. The Eagles and NFL revealed Hurts’ placement on X, giving Philadelphia another representative on one of the league’s most visible offseason lists.
For Hurts, the ranking reflects both respect and debate.
He remains one of the NFL’s most accomplished quarterbacks, with a résumé that includes a Super Bowl MVP, multiple Pro Bowl selections and one of the best winning percentages among active starters. His value to Philadelphia has never been limited to traditional passing numbers. Hurts has won with his arm, legs, toughness, short-yardage dominance and ability to operate in high-pressure situations.
Still, No. 56 represents a notable drop from previous years. Hurts was ranked No. 19 on the NFL Top 100 Players of 2025 and No. 15 on the 2024 list. That slide speaks to the larger conversation surrounding him entering 2026. The Eagles are moving forward with Sean Mannion as offensive coordinator, DeVonta Smith as the clear No. 1 wide receiver after A.J. Brown’s departure, and a revamped supporting cast that includes Hollywood Brown, Dontayvion Wicks and first-round pick Makai Lemon.
Hurts will be asked to lead a different version of the offense, and his response could define Philadelphia’s season.
The ranking also highlights how polarizing Hurts can be. His playing style does not always align with the cleanest quarterback evaluation models, but teammates and opponents continue to respect his results. He has consistently found ways to win, even when the box score does not fully explain his impact.
That is why No. 56 may become useful fuel.
Hurts has never needed outside validation to set his standard, but player-voted recognition still matters. It shows he remains highly regarded across the league while leaving enough room for him to prove he belongs much higher.
For the Eagles, that would be the ideal outcome. If Hurts turns the ranking into motivation and produces an elite season under Mannion, Philadelphia’s offense could quickly quiet the doubts surrounding its transition.
