Cayden Daughtry put on quite the show at the Peach Jam this summer.
The 2027 five-star Iowa basketball target was named the U17 Nike EYBL MVP. He was phenomenal at the Peach Jam, the championship tournament of the Nike EYBL AAU circuit. In eight Peach Jam games, Daughtry averaged an astounding 32.3 points, 6.1 assists, 4.9 rebounds and 2.9 steals per game. Daughtry shot 58.6% from the field and 48.8% from beyond the arc in those games.
After that string of stellar games against other top-flight recruits, Daughtry was going to rise in the latest recruiting rankings. And rise he did.
According to 247Sports, Daughtry is now the third-best prospect in the entire 2027 class. The 6-foot guard from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., is Ben McCollum's top remaining target in next year's class and the Hawkeyes are firmly in the mix to land his talents.
Daughtry holds a bevy of offers from power programs, but he only has one official visit scheduled thus far. That official visit is to Iowa.
Daughtry will be in Iowa City for an official visit on Sept. 11-13 for the Iowa-Iowa State football game. He'll visit more schools this fall, but Iowa getting the first visit is massive in this battle. McCollum will have a chance to make a great impression at a raucous Kinnick Stadium and pitch his program to one of the best high school players in the country.
Iowa has already landed four-star forward Keller Daugherty in the 2027 class. Securing a commitment from Daughtry would be a program-changer. He would instantly be the highest-rated recruit in program history and a further indication of McCollum's success.
