How do you honor the man known in Woodland Park for his kindness and spreading joy? With an ice cream truck that will continue to make people happy!
Daniel Girlando Sr. was known as a selfless man who dedicated much of his life to service that the borough of Woodland Park still benefits from.
Woodland Park dedicated a tree and installed a plaque to commemorate his life after he died in February 2023, and his legacy continues with the ice cream truck his family is starting in his memory.

His daughter, Crystal Teran, describes the experience of starting the ice cream truck Cranpa's Fav with her family as emotional.
"He loved ice cream," Teran said, "It just means a lot for me to have another piece of him."
Not only are the family's efforts and new business sentimental for them, Woodland Park is anticipating the launch of the ice cream truck in Girlando's memory.
His community service portfolio includes raising thousands of dollars for the West Paterson Boys & Girls Club, where he served as board chair. He also coached sports and volunteered on the local first aid squad.
Teran received permission from the town to have the red ribbon ceremony in Yodice Field, the site of his memorial.
"The response has been very good so far," Teran said.
As they built the ice cream truck, Teran noted her family's involvement and support, saying how they each have a different role in the truck's development.
Her husband is knowledgeable and assists with the construction, while her son assisted with the electrical parts of the truck under the guidance of his father. Teran's daughter is excited to work for the business and serve people ice cream.
"It did bring us all together in a different way. We all have something different to bring to the table, so we are all contributing," Teran said.
With construction still underway, the town anticipates the opening on the new ice cream truck. Teran also shares a Facebook post of the progress that has been made.
