Atlanta Braves star Ronald Acuna Jr. is working his way back from a hamstring injury. The Braves outfielder could return soon, as he played in a rehab assignment game on Wednesday. Mark Bowman of MLB.com shared an update on Acuna’s performance and potential return date during the game.
“Acuna singled on a line drive to center and advanced to second on an error to tonight’s game for Gwinnett. He then stole third and scored on a Kim groundout. Him running that aggressively is a good sign. Tomorrow seems optimistic. But I would think he could be activated by Friday,” Bowman reported.
Assuming no setbacks occur, Acuna could return later this week. He is clearly trending in the right direction. Acuna’s injury absence has obviously been far from ideal, but his return will give the Braves a crucial boost.

The Braves star has hit .251/.373/.421 this season to go along with seven home runs across 53 games played. Acuna has been limited by injuries, but he still features the ceiling of one of the best players in the game while on the field.

The Braves, meanwhile, are set to continue their four-game series against the San Diego Padres on Wednesday night. The series is tied 1-1 at the moment, as Atlanta earned a 3-2 win on Monday before San Diego bounced back with an 8-3 victory on Tuesday.
First pitch for Wednesday’s ball game is scheduled for 7:15 PM EST.
