UNICOI COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL) – Early Monday morning, a Unicoi 911 dispatcher helped a father deliver his child over the phone.
According to a social post from Unicoi 911 District, at 1:14 a.m., a call came in from the father saying the mother’s water had broken and she was going into labor.
Dispatcher Sheila Simerly helped provide “lifesaving instructions” to the father, while Supervisor Cheyanne Parks spoke to responding units.
Six minutes later, at 1:20 a.m., a healthy newborn baby’s first cries were heard over the phone.
