BRIDGEWATER - With live entertainment, raffles, games, rides and more, the 73rd annual Bridgewater Country Fair is prepared for an event-packed weekend for local fairgoers of all ages next month.
The annual fair, which is the Bridgewater Volunteer Fire Company's main fundraiser, will take place at the Bridgewater Fair Grounds at 100 Main St South. Gates will be open from 4 to 11 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 21; from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 22; and from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 23.
Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and free of charge for children 12 years old and younger. Three-day passes are available at the Bridgewater Mobil Station and at the gates for $25. Parking is free of charge, and no pets are allowed on the fairgrounds.
Ride bracelets are available for purchase only on Friday from 5 to 10 p.m.
The weekend will kick off Aug. 21 with the annual Bridgewater Fireman's Parade, starting at 6:30 p.m. Recognized as Connecticut's largest fireman's parade, last year's parade featured 67 pieces of apparatus from 44 Connecticut fire companies.
A variety of talents and attractions will include the racing pigs contests; livestock and agriculture displays; amusement rides; art and photography shows; flower, baking, vegetable and fruit competitions; hay bale and skillet toss; tractor, oxen and pony pulls; adult and children's pie eating contests; crafts and more.
The fair also will offer entertainment throughout the weekend, including the Flippenout Trampoline show, the dock diving dogs, border collie herding demonstrations, J. Rouge Aerialist, chainsaw carvings by Nonnewaug High School alum Ben Fraci, and the return of Tim Dyson & Rocketman.
Hot meals cooked by the Bridgewater Volunteer Fire Department will include chicken and waffles on a stick to BBQ, roast beef sandwiches, loaded baked potatoes, grinders, pizza and burgers. Wine and beer will be available at the fair's Watering Hole.
This year's raffle, sponsored by the Bridgewater Volunteer Fire Department, will have two prizes that will be awarded at 6 p.m. Aug. 24. Raffle tickets are $20 each, and all proceeds go to the fire department.
The raffle's first prize is a 2026 Toyota Tacoma Pro iForce Max Turbo Hybrid; second prize is a Bulls Copperhead Evo Mountain Bike; third prize is a Segway XYBER Off Road Bike; fourth prize is an Aventon Abound Electric Bike; and fifth prize is a Segway ZT3 Pro Electric Scooter.
