Seven Michigan State basketball targets have appeared in the new “top 68” rankings for the 2027 class, revealed on Tuesday.

Everyone has been talking about the 2027 high school basketball recruiting class lately because of the Nike EYBL, Peach Jam, and other hoops events have taken place over the past month, and there have been some drastic risers in the ranks like Cayden Daughtry who Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo watched a little while back.

Michigan State is going to have some elite options in the 2027 class, starting with the recent rumored targets in Asa Montgomery and Jordan Page. Those are two new names on the radar and both are likely to finish the class in the five-star range, pushing for top-10 spots.

The Spartans will have several elite targets outside of those two, however.

In fact, according to a brand-new Field of 68 rankings, Michigan State is targeting seven — you could even argue eight — of the top 68 prospects in the 2027 class.

Here’s where all the Spartan targets came in on the new Field of 68 rankings:

Jordan Page, SF — No. 13
Asa Montgomery, CG — No. 14
Nasir Anderson, PG — No. 18 (this is a maybe considering his name hasn’t come up lately)
Antonio Pemberton, PG — No. 20
Jaxson Davis, PG — No. 33
Jadyn Jenkins, C — No. 49
Joshua Tyson, CG — No. 54
Kamsi Awaka, C — No. 59

Nasir Anderson is the asterisk here just because I haven’t heard about Michigan State in his recruitment in a couple of months. The rest are Spartan targets, though.

What would an ideal 2027 class look like for Michigan State?

It’s difficult to project what rosters could look like a year from now because the transfer portal and recruiting will change a lot before then, but let’s operate under the assumption that Michigan State only loses Coen Carr, Jeremy Fears Jr., and Anton Bonke next offseason.

Bonke could return for another year, and I guess so could Carr and Fears, but the most likely scenario is that at least two of those guys are gone after 2026-27.

If that’s the case, here’s what my ideal 2027 recruiting class looks like:

Antonio Pemberton, 4-star PG (No. 33 on 247Sports)
Jordan Page, 5-star SF (No. 9 on 247Sports)
Jadyn Jenkins, 4-star C (No. 42 on 247Sports)

I wouldn’t mind any of the guards in Pemberton’s spot above, but I’m going with the guy who feels most attainable and who’s the highest-ranked of the realistic options.

If Michigan State flips Carr, Fears, and Bonke for Page, Pemberton, and Jenkins, I think fans would be ecstatic and Izzo might just do backflips in his office. Unfortunately, we don’t live in a perfect world so the likelihood of the perfect scenario coming to fruition is always close to zero.
