MANISTEE — Manistee City Council held a regular meeting on Tuesday.
Here are five takeaways from the meeting:
• Retiring police officer Brian Cook received a resolution of thanks and appreciation.
• Council members voted to accept the Michigan Department of Transportation's good faith offers for two city-owned parcels for U.S. 31 construction right-of-way improvements.
• The council approved a contract with Molon Asphalt, of Traverse City, for $867,714.39 for three street improvement projects.
• Council members approved the purchase of a 2025 Schwarze street sweeper from Fredrickson Supply, of Grand Rapids, for $350,000, including the trade-in of a 2013 Elgin sweeper.
• Bruce Banks and James Riley reported on the activities of the utilities department.
