‘Taxi Driver’ actor Robert De Niro became a father for the seventh time at the age of 79
Many celebrities have embraced the role of “dad” long after cementing their legacies in Hollywood.
Robert De Niro, for example, became a father for the seventh time when he welcomed his daughter Gia with his girlfriend Tiffany Chen at the age of 79.
In February 2024, the Raging Bull actor told PEOPLE that his baby girl brings him “great joy and relief,” and that, despite their age difference, his older kids “get a big kick out of her,” too.
“The grandkids even,” he added. “She’s their aunt— [and] they’re about to be teenagers!”
Here are five celebrity dads who welcomed children after turning 75 years old.

Al Pacino is the father of four children. He welcomed his oldest daughter, Julie, with acting coach Jan Tarrant, twins Anton and Olivia with actress Beverly D’Angelo and son Roman with producer Noor Alfallah.
The Scarface actor became a father for the first time at the age of 49, and was 83 by the time Roman was born in May 2023.
Despite being 34 years older the fourth time around, Pacino said the experience felt “the same.”
“It’s a mini miracle. That’s all I can say,” he told PEOPLE in October 2024. “I love it, I’m very happy that I see my children. It’s great.”

Robert De Niro
Taxi Driver actor De Niro made headlines when he revealed that he had become a father for the seventh time at the age of 79. When asked by an interviewer about his six children in May 2023, he corrected, “Seven, actually. I just had a baby.” De Niro later shared the details of his daughter Gia’s arrival with Gayle King on CBS Mornings.
These days, De Niro wakes up early to spend his mornings with his little one. “I’m an early riser,” he told The Sunday Times in January 2025. “I spend my mornings watching Ms. Rachel with her, and I give her her bottle.”
De Niro also previously described Gia as an “adorable baby” in an exclusive interview with PEOPLE. “[When I] look at her, everything else goes away,” he added.
In addition to Gia, the Goodfellas star also shares daughter Drena and son Raphael with ex-wife Diahnne Abbott, twins Julian and Airyn with Toukie Smith and son Elliot and daughter Helen Grace with his ex-wife, Grace Hightower.

Tony Randall
Tony Randall, best known for his role as Felix Unger in the 1970s hit TV series The Odd Couple, began his foray into fatherhood at the age of 78.
The star had been married to his high school sweetheart, Florence Gibbs, from 1938 until her death in 1992, and three years later he married 25-year-old Heather Harlan, with whom he welcomed two kids, Julia and Jefferson.
“Since he couldn’t have kids with his first wife, he desperately wanted them — so he was an incredibly loving father,” Harlan told Marie Claire in January 2008. “And a great provider — his children have everything they will ever need.”
When Randall died at the age of 84 on May 17, 2004, his children were 6 and 7 years old. “It’s horrible for a child to lose a parent at an early age, but our life is not a tragedy because Tony died,” Harlan said.

Formula 1 founder Bernie Ecclestone welcomed his youngest child, son Ace, with wife Fabiana Flosi in July 2020 when he was 89 years old. The British business magnate is also the father of daughter Deborah, whom he shares with his ex-wife Ivy Bamford, and daughters Tamara and Petra, whom he welcomed with his then-wife Slavica Radić.
“I don’t see there’s any difference between being 89 and 29,” Ecclestone told U.K. news agency PA Media about becoming a father again later in life, according to CNN. “You’ve got the same problems I suppose. It’s all right.”
In October 2021, Tamara shared a sweet photo on Instagram of Ecclestone on his 91st birthday with his baby boy, writing, “A very special day celebrating the most special man. You are so very loved. We are very lucky.”
