The Miami Dolphins moved on from several big-name, high-priced free agents this offseason, as they look to move on from the Chris Grier-Mike McDaniel regime that unfortunately didn't result in a playoff win during their time together.
With that, there are some players who aren't household names on the roster heading into training camp who could play significant roles in 2026.
Here are four under-the-radar players on the defensive side of the ball that fans should get familiar with before camp kicks off.
Joshua Uche
Uche joined the Dolphins on a one-year deal this offseason after spending 2020-24 with the New England Patriots, part of the 2024 season with the Kansas City Chiefs and 2025 with the Philadelphia Eagles. He's had some success in the league, mostly in New England, but in South Florida, he'll have another opportunity to start and earn another contract next year.
Rene Konga
Konga signed with Miami this offseason an undrafted free agent after playing four years at Rutgers from 2020-23 and two years at Louisville from 2024-25, where he earned All-ACC honors once. At 6-foot-4 and 298 pounds, his pure athleticism makes him one of the most intriguing undrafted players in the league this year. With a successful training camp, he could set himself up for a rotational role as a rookie.
Kyle Louis
The Dolphins took Louis in the fourth round (No. 138 overall) of the 2026 NFL draft after he spent four years at Pittsburgh, where he earned All-ACC honors twice and All-American honors once. Second-round pick Jacob Rodriguez is getting the most attention of the young linebackers in the room, but Louis' versatility to play both linebacker and safety makes him an intriguing rookie that fans should keep an eye on over the next few weeks.
Alex Austin
With Rasul Douglas and Jack Jones both hitting free agency and leaving for new teams, the Dolphins have added a first-round rookie and a slew of veterans to their cornerback room. Among them is Austin, who played at Oregon State from 2019-22 and was a seventh-round pick in the 2023 NFL draft. He's played a bit during his NFL career, which has included stops in Buffalo, Houston and New England. There might be bigger names in the position group, but the 25-year-old might flash, especially if Storm Duck, JuJu Brents and Darrel Baker Jr. are battling injuries.
