There’s a new number one show on Prime Video this week: Tessa Coates’s brand-new action comedy Ride or Die. Octavia Spencer and Hannah Waddingham star as two friends who go on the run when they’re targeted by a mysterious figure. Also, one of them is an international assassin. Sounds fun, right? Well, a huge number of viewers seem to think so, but in case that’s not quite what you’re in the mood for, there’s still plenty more to explore on the streaming service. Here’s a look at three great shows that we think you should binge on Prime Video this week.

‘The Middle’ (2009–2018)
Created by Eileen Heisler and DeAnn Heline, The Middle is an ABC sitcom that follows a struggling lower-middle-class family in Orson, Indiana. Patricia Heaton and Neil Flynn star as Frankie and Mike Heck, parents of 15-year-old Axl (Charlie McDermott), 13-year-old Sue (Eden Sher), and 8-year-old Brick (Atticus Shaffer), and the show follows the family’s day-to-day misadventures. The series also features some notable guest stars, including Brooke Shields, Norm Macdonald, Jack McBrayer, and more.
The Middle premiered in 2009 to a positive critical reception and aired 215 episodes across nine seasons until its conclusion in 2018. The later seasons of the show, in particular, earned widespread praise from critics and audiences alike for its engaging narrative and quirky characters. The series also received several accolades, including a Gracie Award and a Primetime Emmy Award nomination, and while it isn’t quite as widely known as some of the other sitcoms of its time, The Middle is a must-watch for comedy fans.
‘Butterfly’ (2025)
Created by Steph Cha and Ken Woodruff, Butterfly is a spy thriller series inspired by Arash Amel and Marguerite Bennett’s Boom! Studios graphic novel. Set in South Korea, the show follows former U.S. intelligence operative David Jung (Daniel Dae Kim), who is forced to come out of hiding when he learns that his estranged daughter Rebecca (Reina Hardesty) is now an assassin working for the organization he co-founded. Louis Landau, Piper Perabo, Kim Tae-hee, and more appear in other notable roles.
An intriguing exploration of familial tensions in the world of global espionage, Butterfly earned mostly favorable reviews when it premiered in August 2025, though it did face some criticism for its action choreography and plot. Despite that, the show features some excellent character dynamics and performances, particularly by Daniel Dae Kim in the lead role, and it’s an engaging watch for thriller fans. Sadly, the series was canceled on a cliffhanger after just one season, but it’s still worth a binge-watch.
‘Bates Motel’ (2013–2017)
Developed by Carlton Cuse, Kerry Ehrin, and Anthony Cipriano, Bates Motel is a “contemporary prequel” to Alfred Hitchcock’s iconic 1960 film Psycho,starring Freddie Highmore as a young Norman Bates and Vera Farmiga as his mother, Norma. The show follows the two as they become the proprietors of the titular motel in the hopes of starting a new life, but when Norman’s mental illness takes a dangerous turn, Norma attempts to protect her son at all costs. Besides Highmore and Farmiga, the series also features Max Thieriot, Olivia Cooke, Nicola Peltz, Nestor Carbonell, and Kenny Johnson in significant roles.
Almost all the Psycho adaptations and remakes that have been made over the years have fallen far short of the original, but Bates Motel is one of the better ones. Anchored by Highmore and Farmiga’s brilliant central performances, the show earned critical acclaim throughout its five-season run on A&E. It’s an intensely suspenseful show that successfully keeps you hooked throughout its narrative, and the series earned several accolades, including an Emmy nomination and a Saturn Award win for Vera Farmiga.
