A new generation will lead the ’13 Going on 30′ reboot, which is executive produced by our original Jenna Rink, Jennifer Garner.
More than 20 years after Jennifer Garner taught everyone what it means to be “30, flirty and thriving,” we’re getting a reboot of 13 Going on 30. With a brand-new generation making up the cast, the movie went into production earlier this summer in Los Angeles, California. Emily Bader and Logan Lerman were selected for the lead roles.
Fortunately, Garner is serving as an executive producer on the production, while Brett Haley is directing.

13 Going on 30 Reboot Cast: Who’s Playing Who?
Bader and Lerman were cast in the lead roles of the reboot, but official character names have not been disclosed. According to photos published by Just Jared in July 2026, Garner and Judy Greer were spotted filming scenes on the L.A. set, presumably as their original characters.
Jessica Alba joined the cast as well, though her role has been kept under wraps. Some fans have speculated that she might be playing the frenemy mean girl character, Lucy Wyman, whom Judy Greer brought to life in 2004. Taylor Ortega, Tim Meadows and Dan Bucatinsky also joined the film.
Taylor Zakhar Perez was also cast in the reboot, according to Just Jared. He and Netflix have yet to confirm the casting news at the time of publication. The actor has another highly anticipated role coming up: his return as First Son of the United States Alex Claremont-Diaz in Red, White & Royal Wedding.
When Does the 13 Going on 13 Reboot Come Out? Projected Release Date
No official release date has been announced at the time of publication. But production on the new 13 Going on 30 began in June 2026 and is reportedly scheduled to wrap in August 2026.
So, it’s possible that the movie could be released in mid-2027 or, at the latest, the end of 2027.
Will the 13 Going on 30 Reboot Be in Theaters or Streaming?
Since Netflix is producing the reboot, it’s likely that 13 Going on 30 will get a streaming release instead of a theatrical one. That was the case with Bader’s last rom-com, People We Meet on Vacation, which Haley also directed. The book-to-screen adaptation co-starred Tom Blyth and debuted on Netflix in January 2026.
