Each of the levels in this game is randomly generated, giving it a Roguelike feel, but it also means that you will never know what to expect when you take the plunge. Bring some friends with you to make the chaos even more exciting, and trust me, there will be chaos.
There are tons of hazards, destructible environments, dangerous enemies, and much more to worry about in Spelunky, but it is a hilarious game that will keep you coming back for more brutal deaths.

In Goblin Cleanup, you take on the role of a goblin maid, and instead of completing the dungeon, you reset and restore it for the next set of adventurers who want to explore it. It is a unique take on the dungeon diving experience.
You must mop up the blood, refill the chests, and replace the monsters. Don't worry, there are still threats to be had, as the adventurers may not have triggered all the traps.
Slay the Spire

Slay the Spire is what you get when you combine a dungeon crawler Roguelike with a card game. The dungeon you must survive in this instance is a giant spire, but making it to the top won't be easy.
You need to contend with dangerous foes ranging from tiny fuzzy worms to Eldritch terrors and more. How you fight them, however, is by using cards. With over 350 cards to use, you are sure to not have the same experience twice.
For those who want to continue the madness, the game's sequel is in early access and is also incredible.
Crypt of the NecroDancer

What happens when you introduce the power of music to a dungeon full of powerful enemies? Well, they start dancing and grooving to the beat, and then you have to smack them down in rhythmic fashion. This is what you get in Crypt of the NecroDancer.
This award-winning Roguelike game requires you to move to the beat of the song, dance your way through various everchanging dungeons, and slay enemies in time with the music. This is one of the more unique dungeon crawling experiences you will ever have.
After trying it, I was hooked for some time, but I must admit that there is a bit of a learning curve. Once you get it down, however, you will get hooked on the beat and never want to stop.
Hades
Escape the Underworld
Hades is full of hack-and-slash goodness and is a surprisingly solid take on mythology. The premise is that you must fight your way out of the underworld. Along the way, you will be helped by the various Olympic gods like Zeus and Poseidon.
What makes Hades so great is the fast-paced and brutal combat combined with a beautiful animation style. Along with this, you will find various powerful items that will aid you in each attempt to escape the underworld.
The game was built with replayability in mind, giving you more of the story the more attempts you make, and each attempt changes the layout, making each run unique.
Enter the Gungeon

Are you a fan of bullet hell titles? Do you seek the ability to unleash waves of torment against foes buried deep within ancient ruins? Well, Enter the Gungeon is definitely the game for you.
Enter the Gungeon takes the fast-paced and dizzying style of a bullet hell and throws it in a dungeon, giving you access to some amazing weapons and crazy enemies. Seriously, this is the first game I have ever seen where you can shoot at Mindflayer-like foes with a giant revolver or defeat humongous bullet enemies.
Enter the Gungeon is one of the wackiest games I have ever seen, and it is a dungeon crawler you will definitely come back to over and over again.
Barony
Blocky Dungeons
If you want more of an old-school feel, you should consider the game Barony. This dungeon crawling experience looks like an 8-bit game gained a third dimension and then took inspiration from games like Dungeon Lords.
While the base game doesn't have a ton of options, the DLCs allow you to choose from a bunch of different races and classes, each with unique abilities and weapons. You can then jump into the randomly generated dungeon with your friends and see how far you can survive.
Be prepared, because this game will not hold your hand. Instead, it will try to chop your hand off and feed it to a troll, as there are nonstop threats lurking around every corner.
Darkest Dungeon
Insanity and Stress
Darkest Dungeon is a dungeon crawler that will not hold your hand in the slightest. You pick your group of adventurers, send them on a journey, and pray they will make it back alive.
Your heroes will face off against unimaginable horrors, try to avoid disease, and attempt to alleviate the stress of being surrounded by complete darkness.
The stress mechanic is the most interesting part of Darkest Dungeon, as it will determine whether your characters survive their trip into the unknown, and the more stress they have, the far more likely they are to fall victim to the darkness.
I also feel compelled to point out the art style, as the game is beautifully animated with hand-drawn gothic designs. It really is a game that stands out amongst many others.
Legend of Grimrock
A True Dungeon Experience
If you are looking for one of the most gritty dungeon experiences, you should check out Legend of Grimrock, as this game is a true dungeon crawler that will challenge you on every level.
This game is an old-school-style RPG, giving you access to different classes, each with a variety of skills and abilities that will aid you in the dungeon. Along with this, there is grid-based movement, making the game feel like Dungeons & Dragons has come to life.
The game was made in 2012, but despite this, it looks magnificent, and it will give you that true dungeon crawling experience that you are craving.
Path of Exile 2
So Many Options
Path of Exile 2 is a game that competes with Diablo, and surpasses it on every level. For starters, the extensive maps are all gorgeous, there are deep dungeons to explore, and countless enemies to face.
The boss fights are truly fantastic, with each of them being unique. Along with this, there are several classes to choose from, and each of them is just as powerful as the last.
This is all without mentioning the build potential in this game. If you look at the skill tree, it goes on for miles, giving players freedom to design a truly unique build. There isn't anything wrong with this game, aside from maybe choice paralysis from how much there is.
