Your pet's next prescription could come from CVS under new nationwide service

Attention all parents of pooches and purr machines - you can now pick up your pet's prescription at CVS Pharmacy, according to a news release from the company. 

The service is available at about 9,000 CVS Pharmacy locations nationwide and allows pet owners to fill prescriptions for pet-only medications, including antibiotics, allergy treatments, flea and tick preventatives, insulin and pain relievers.

According to CVS, the program is intended to make pet medications more accessible by giving owners another option for filling their pets' prescriptions.

"We're proud to be a trusted partner in our patients' health care journeys," Sid Tenneti, senior vice president and interim president of Pharmacy and Consumer Wellness, said in the release.

Pet owners who want to fill a prescription at CVS can bring a written prescription to a participating pharmacy or ask their veterinarian to send it directly to their preferred CVS location. Eligible customers can also have prescriptions delivered.

"With the addition of pet medication dispensing, CVS Pharmacy can now serve every member of the family," Tenneti said. "Combined with our convenient locations, extended hours, and broad range of health and wellness products, we offer a true one-stop destination for care."

The new pet prescription service is available at 42 CVS Pharmacy locations across the San Antonio area, according to the company's store locator.
