Woman, 55, dies two months after being hit in Modena car attack

(ANSA) - ROME, JUL 22 - A 55-year-old woman who was among the people hit by a car attack in the northern city of Modena on May 16 has died, the hospital she was being treated at said on Wednesday. Monica Esposito never regained consciousness after the attack by a 31-year-old Italian citizen of Moroccan origin with mental-health problems, Salim El Koudri. After driving into the pedestrians with his car, El Koudri pulled a knife when passers-by, including two Egyptian men, grappled him to ground. Esposito was among eight people injured in the attack. El Koudri is an economics graduate who had no previous criminal record. He was unemployed and had been suffering from schizoid mental disorders since 2022. (ANSA).
