Directed by Jon Favreau, "The Mandalorian and Grogu" continues the story of Disney+'s hit series "The Mandalorian," which premiered in 2020 and introduced audiences to Grogu widely known as Baby Yoda alongside bounty hunter Din Djarin, played by Pedro Pascal. The series ran for three seasons and became one of Disney+'s flagship original programs.

Disney has not announced an official streaming release date for the film on Disney+, but industry observers expect it to arrive on the service in early September based on the company's typical theatrical-to-streaming release schedule.

The digital release gives fans who missed the film in theaters their first opportunity to watch the latest chapter in the "Star Wars" franchise from home while awaiting its eventual debut on Disney+.
