WEST HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — A 24-year-old West Haven man was charged with murder after allegedly stabbing a man to death in a family violence incident Sunday evening at a West Haven apartment.
Wilkins Castillo was charged with murder and two counts of risk injury, the the West Haven Police Department said Wednesday.
His arrest stems from around 5:20 p.m. Sunday, when officers responded to a report of a possible stabbing in the 200 block of Meadowbrook Court. Police entered the apartment and found a man they believed to be the suspect and took him into police custody.
The person stabbed, Robert Piccirillo, 35, of Branford, was taken to a hospital, where police said he was later pronounced dead.
“At this time, the incident appears to be isolated, as it has been preliminarily identified as a family violence in nature, and there is no active threat to the public,” police said in a statement Tuesday.
Castillo was held on a $2 million bond.
