Labadie Rib Fest

The Labadie Rib Festival returns to Bay City, featuring barbecue vendors from across the country, performances from national and regional musicians, family activities, a celebrity cook-off and more.

On Friday, July 24, the festival opens at noon at Veterans Memorial Park, with events, activities and contests all day. Sister Hazel opens at 6 p.m., followed by a headliner performance from Smash Mouth at 9. The festival closes at 11 p.m. Daily festival passes are $11 and weekend passes are $33. Concert tickets are $33 to $68.50 and include festival admission.

Free Movie Night at Dow Diamond

Hosted by Dow Credit Union, community members can enjoy a free screening of “Captain America: The First Avenger” in celebration of the United States’ 250th anniversary.

The gates open at 6 p.m. and the film starts at 7 p.m. Concessions are available for purchase from 6-8:30 p.m. The event is free, but organizers ask that attendees pre-register for planning purposes at https://forms.office.com/r/JhBsw4PasA

Movie lovers can catch all the superhero action from the seating area or the lawn, or bring a chair to watch right from the field.

Coleman Road – Commons Live Music

Coleman Road takes the stage at the Commons Live Music Series Pedestrian Plaza in Downtown Midland at 7 p.m. The band offers a mix of rock, blues, soul and R&B.

In addition to music, attendees can play outdoor games, sip drinks in the social district and eat dinner from one of the local restaurants. The concert stage is at the corner of Main Street and McDonald Street.

Saturday, July 25

Labadie Rib Fest

Saturday at the Labadie Rib Festival opens at 11 a.m., featuring activities, a cornhole tournament, a jalapeño-eating contest, a hula hooping competition, a family karaoke session, and performances from Firehouse at 7 p.m. and Night Ranger at 9 p.m.

The festival closes at 11 p.m. Daily festival passes are $11 and weekend passes are $33. Concert tickets are $38 to $78.50 and include festival admission.

Lawn Chair Film Festival – ‘When Harry Met Sally’

Fall for Rob Reiner’s 1989 romantic comedy all over again on the big screen at the Old Town Saginaw Association’s Lawn Chair Film Festival. The outdoor showing takes place at the Case Building Parking Lot at 303 Adams Street in Saginaw.

The show begins at 7 p.m., with entertainment and food vendors beforehand. Attendees should bring their own lawn chairs.

Hoedown Downtown

This Saturday, the Commons Live Music Series has a country twang. Before The Ghost Town Marshalls take the Pedestrian Stage at 7 p.m., attendees can join in free line dancing classes from Cahoots Country Dance Club at 6 p.m. to get ready to boot, scoot and boogie.

Attendees can dress in their favorite western wear for this themed event or pick up goodies from a limited supply passed out near the stage. The hoedown takes place in Downtown Midland.

Sunday, July 26

Labadie Rib Fest

Sunday marks the final day for ribs, music and festivities at the Labadie Rib Fest in Bay City. The day kicks off at 9 a.m. with registration for the 5K Run/Walk race, which starts at 11 a.m. For the rest of the day, enjoy activities, music, a hot wing eating contest, line dancing and more.

Family Tradition takes the stage at 6 p.m. before Chris Janson closes out the festival at 8 p.m. The festival ends at 10 p.m. Daily festival passes are $11 and weekend passes are $33. Concert tickets are $38 to $78.50 and include festival admission.

Paint Your Pet

Laura Vosejpka, executive director of Creative 360, will lead a Paint Your Pet session from 1-4 p.m. that doesn’t require any artistic skills. All materials will be provided, and the event is open to all ages, but kids under 10 must have a caregiver.

The event costs $40 per canvas. Attendees should email a photo of their dog, cat, hamster or horse to [email protected] by July 23.

America’s 250th Picnic in the Park

The Coleman Historical Society will host a picnic in Coleman Park on Sunday to celebrate the United States of America’s 250th anniversary. The picnic will include an ice cream social, games, a silent auction, popcorn and a game of tug of war against the fire department.
