Brad Paisley took the stage to deliver a surprise pop-up performance for an at-capacity crowd on Monday night (July 20).

Paisley served as the mystery headliner at Whiskey Jam, which hosts free live shows twice per week, featuring rising singer-songwriters, established artists and surprise guests. Luke Combs, Chris Stapleton, Kacey Musgraves, Lainey Wilson and many others played on the Whiskey Jam stage before reaching superstardom.

The audience cheered as Paisley made his way to the stage at Dierks Bentley’s Whiskey Row in downtown Nashville, Tennessee. During his set, Paisley brought out David Lee Murphy to perform his ‘90s hit, “Dust on the Bottle.” Whiskey Jam hailed it a “casually legendary Monday night. Just the way we like them.”

Paisley’s pop-up performance arrives just a few days after he released Tacklebox - Disc 1, a 13-track collection that includes some previously-released songs. Paisley’s ongoing Tacklebox project includes unreleased and unrecorded songs that date back to the ‘90s, inspired by Alan Jackson, Brooks & Dunn, Alabama, George Strait, Garth Brooks and other artists whose sounds defined the ‘80s and ‘90s, per a press release issued Friday (July 17).

“In this digital age, I have every song I’ve ever written at my fingertips,” Paisley said in a statement. “There was such freedom in rediscovering the songs for ‘Tacklebox,’ the new ones we wrote, and the order we released them. They came from or were written about a nostalgic time period, a style of writing, and a sound. We wanted to give listeners that special feeling of playing a vinyl album or CD all the way through, if you listened to it top to bottom.”
