Golden State Warriors No. 11 overall pick Yaxel Lendeborg was named the 2026 NBA Summer League MVP on Tuesday, just a couple days after leading his team to a championship title in Las Vegas.
Lendeborg averaged 14.8 points, 6.8 rebounds and four assists through six game appearances with the Warriors. In Sunday’s title-game win over the Memphis Grizzlies, the former Michigan standout recorded 21 points and 10 rebounds.
Lendegborg was also named MVP of the championship game, and earned Summer League First Team honors alongside Cameron Boozer, Brayden Burries, Meleek Thomas and Caleb Wilson.
The Warriors reacted to Lendeborg’s MVP trophy with a post on social media.
“Yaxel Lendeborg is your 2026 Summer League MVP,” the team wrote.
Lendeborg will have an immediate impact as a rookie for the Warriors, joining a roster featuring veteran players like Stephen Curry and Draymond Green.
“I live for this moment right here,” Lendeborg said after leading the Warriors to their Summer League championship. “Do whatever we gotta do to win this. We’re the Warriors, we win. We’re gonna get another one next season. Go Dubs.”
“Every game I play I have something to prove to myself,” he added while accepting his championship game MVP trophy. “I’m just very proud of this moment and I’m glad we got to win this.”
