UMass transfer quarterback Brandon Rose has signed with Utah, On3 has learned. He spent three seasons with the Utes before entering the portal and spending 2025 with the Minutemen.
Rose’s addition provides another quarterback to Utah’s room, backing up returning starter Devon Dampier. He dealt with injuries last year at UMass and played in six games. He was 52 of 88 for 424 yards with a touchdown and three interceptions.
Rose appeared in three games at Utah in 2024, most notably throwing for 112 yards, two touchdowns and one interception on 12 of 21 passing against nationally-ranked No. 9 BYU in his lone start of the season. He would not play another game as an injury kept him sidelined the remainder of 2024.
The Temecula, California, native is a redshirt senior with one year of eligibility remaining.
In Year 1 at Utah, Dampier produced over 3,300 total yards and 34 touchdowns with only five interceptions. Head coach Morgan Scalley convinced Dampier to stay put in the wake of the coaching change, making Utah a legitimate Big 12 contender in 2026 after an 11-2 season. Dampier’s return sets up Utah as a preseason top-25 team.
“How competitive he is, how much of a playmaker,” Scalley said. “Not only his ability to run, but his ability to throw on the run, that’s hard to do. He does it at such an elite level.”
