The historic Tulsa Theater is changing hands for the first time in nearly 50 years.
Current ownership has not announced who will take over the downtown venue, but officials have scheduled a "Final Encore" celebration for the weekend of Oct. 1 ahead of the ownership transition. The theater has been owned by Peter Mayo since the late 1970s.
Final Encore planned
The Final Encore celebration will feature three days of performances by local artists, along with food and drinks.
Organizers say the event will celebrate the theater's history and its connection to the Tulsa community as ownership changes.
Future events remain on schedule
Despite the ownership transition, events already scheduled at Tulsa Theater after the Final Encore weekend have not been canceled.
The venue's event calendar continues to list performances beyond Oct. 1, indicating previously announced shows will move forward as planned.
New owner not yet announced
Current ownership has not identified the buyer or provided additional details about when the sale will officially close.
