Around here, we're all about building functional strength and priming your body into a machine that can handle whatever life throws its way. But at the end of the day, we're all human, and sometimes that means letting our own vanity get the better of us. During the summer months especially, who doesn't want to flex an impressive set of washboard-like six-pack abs that can be spotted from a distance?
As you've likely heard millions of times over, abs are built in the kitchen. Overall diet and daily caloric intake undoubtedly have the biggest impact on the appearance of your physique. But once you've got the nutrition part down, the right exercises can help strengthen and develop your rectus abdominis, obliques, and deep core muscles, creating the definition that pops as body fat goes down.
For David Mason, a dad himself and certified personal trainer and SAQ coach at Barbells Abroad, maintaining a set of shredded abs doesn't mean doing tons of mindless crunches. Rather, he built a simple 10-minute ab workout that targets the entire core and can be done anywhere, anytime. Whether traveling, stuck at home, or at the gym after a heavy lift day, all you need is a timer and 10 minutes to put your abs to work.
