July 22 (UPI) -- President Donald Trump on Wednesday is scheduled to travel to Georgia where he's expected to tout his administration's new child investment accounts program alongside state Republican candidates.
Trump's speech is set to take place at 3 p.m. EDT at Wheeler High School in Cobb County just outside Atlanta.
White House officials said the president will talk about Trump Accounts, a program his administration launched on July 4 that provides a way for parents and guardians to save money for their children.
"President Trump is giving every American child a head start in life, a nest egg to grow with, and a real stake in their future through Trump Accounts, White House spokeswoman Liz Huston told WSB-TV in Atlanta.
Any child under the age of 18 is eligible for the federal savings program, which allows up to $5,000 to be contributed each year. All children born during Trump's second term in office will receive $1,000 in seed money.
The accounts that start with the $1,000 seed money and receive no further contributions could reach more than $18,000 by the time the child reaches 28. Those receiving the maximum contributions can reach more than $1 million.
Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp said Georgia foster children were eligible for the program as well, WAGA-TV in Atlanta reported.
CBS News reported that Republican political candidates were also expected to be in attendance at Wednesday's speech, including gubernatorial nominee Rick Jackson and U.S. Rep. Mike Collins, who is running to unset Sen. Jon Ossoff, D-Ga., in November.
The Hill reported Trump may address election security during the Wednesday appearance, a week after giving a prime-time speech in which he made sweeping, largely unsupported claims of widespread problems with U.S. elections.
