President Donald Trump on Wednesday morning will be met with the bad news of a massive exodus of his MAGA base over what one White House insider called a "politically impossible situation," a new report shows.
In just two months, MAGA voters have dramatically shifted their positions on the Iran war that has raged since February with no resolution in sight, new polling data shows.

According to Politico's latest survey, support among Trump's most loyal base has experienced a "precipitous drop." The Iran conflict has become a liability even among voters who once provided unwavering support for the president.
The numbers tell a stark story: Thirty-seven percent of self-identified MAGA voters now say the U.S. should continue fighting only if costs don't increase—up from just 29 percent in May. According to Politico, "That flagging support among the president’s most loyal supporters is the clearest sign that Americans’ patience is wearing thin as the economy continues to dominate as voters’ top concern heading into a critical midterm cycle."
Yet Trump shows no signs of seeking an exit. On Tuesday, Trump told reporters that Iranian officials "desperately want to meet," but dismissed negotiations, saying he'd only talk when Tehran is "ready to meet in a meaningful way."
Behind closed doors in the Trump administration, the mood is beyond grim, according to the report.
Politico is reporting, "The White House is 'at a maximum level of frustration right now, and I was told by very senior people that the president is now fully aware that the only way to the victory that he wants is completely politically impossible. The American people just will not support the kind of escalation it would take at this point,' said one person close to the White House, granted anonymity to discuss private conversations. 'We’ve got more dead Americans and a politically impossible situation.'"
Trump's political calendar has now become a nightmare as he fends off a revolt over "an unpopular and expensive war three months from a midterm election expected to turn on cost of living issues," the report notes.
