Widespread storminess could lead to some delays as a heat wave comes to an end in the East.

Much of the Southern Plains, Southeast, mid-Atlantic and eventually the Midwest will see more rain and storms through Friday, so mid to late week travel may see delays.

Storms will remain possible for the South and Southeast through the weekend, with the Northeast and Midwest generally seeing a chance of showers.

Record heat will be a concern if your travel plans take you outdoors in the Northeast and mid-Atlantic through Wednesday. Highs will peak in the 90s in New York City, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington, D.C. Stay hydrated and in the shade if you must be outside during the afternoon hours.

Keep in mind that the trees and grasses are in full bloom in many areas, as well. Pollen sufferers will want to account for that in any outdoor plans. You can see how far north the pollen has gotten in maps at the end of this article.
