Tragic News For The DBR Community

Gut wrenching and sorrowful news

There are times in life when things that make absolutely no sense happen. Out of the blue, you get news about good people who have suffered some thunderbolt from out of the blue that utterly changes their life forever.

So it is now for Friend of DBR, Michael Corey.

A 2005 Duke grad, Mike went on to get his law degree from Ohio State and has been running the nonprofit Human Service Chamber of Franklin County. He could be suing large corporations or doing M&A type work, because he’s certainly talented enough to do that sort of law. Instead, he wanted to help people in better ways, and so that’s what he’s been doing.

Very sadly, Mike was dealt a severe blow on July 19, when his car was struck by another.

Mike was driving with his two-year-old son, Teddy. Both were seriously injured, but Teddy did not survive.

Mike was also seriously injured, but thankfully, although still hospitalized, he is now in stable condition.

This is just dreadful news. He’s a good man, and it makes no sense that he and his family have to suffer such a loss.

Our deepest condolences to Mike, his family, and his loved ones. No one should have to live through this.

If you would, please take a moment and post a note of support on the board for the Coreys, who could probably use the support after this unimaginable loss.

God Bless.

The image of five adults fishing in waist-deep water in the Scioto River is believed to be the two couples and their friend who died trying to rescue each other – leaving three young children orphaned. “I believe the picture I took may have been the last...
