Tottenham just made the striker decision fans didn't know they wanted

Tottenham Hotspur have some big decisions to make this summer transfer window. They have already done wonderfully to change the narrative at the club that they cannot or will not compete with the other elite clubs in European football for the very best transfer targets on the marking, splurging a combined 185 million pounds to land Roberto De Zerbi's two top midfield targets in Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali, who can both transform this club's fortunes.

But with the base intact after signing Tonali and Fernandes, Tottenham need to bring in the real game changers who can score the goals and turn the possession and progression into something tangible in the score line. Because Richarlison and Dominic Solanke are not enough to lead this line's scoring efforts.

As Tottenham mull over all the dreamy options from Eli Junior Kroupi to Ferran Torres, Spurs have to prepare for their arrivals with sales. They need to think about two things before signing a striker. The first is raising every bit of capital possible so they can make offers that clubs like Barcelona and Bournemouth cannot refuse for their players. And then as the unrest of Luka Vuskovic and Lucas Bergvall have shown, they need to facilitate reasonable exits that leave the door open for a reunion for their young star forwards to get minutes if they would be blocked by a new transfer.

Tottenham get a great deal out of Will Lankshear

Tottenham Hotspur have done exactly that with promising goal scorer Will Lankshear, who could potentially be a first team option for Spurs in the future but clearly needs more development before Spurs can think about him as that kind of a player.

According to Alasdair Gold of Football.London and multiple other reliable sources, Tottenham have decided to sell Lankshear to Middlesborough after the historic EFL Championship side have shown considerable interest in the 21 year old marksman.

The deal looks like a great bit of business for Tottenham on multiple fronts. They will get 10 million pounds up front and an additional 10 million pounds in bonuses for a total of 20 million pounds - not much less than what Richarlison could go for this summer. And better yet, Spurs get a 20 percent sell on clause if he blows up, as well as the right to match any offer Middlesborough get for the playerr.

That means Tottenham have met a lot of requirements. They sold a player for 20 million pounds, gave a young striker a great opportuntiy to develop, and they still have a say in the future of the player to benefit further from him.
