There was a bombshell on Wednesday lunchtime for Leicester City's Blue Army fan base to digest. It was potentially the biggest of all possible breaking news headlines in Leicestershire.
Apparently, LCFC owners The King Power International Group have put the Foxes up for sale. Wow.
As a matter of fact, reporter Alan Nixon claimed that a 'local consortium' with 'strong property links' (whatever that is supposed to mean) wished to buy the King Power Stadium and the training ground at Seagrave only a couple of months ago. Maybe that possibility is being explored in LE2, or even currently in open discussions on Filbert Way - who knows!?
But how did they get here? City's dramatic descent from lifting the FA Cup in 2021 to tumbling down the English football pyramid stands as a stark warning of mismanagement, not to mention negligence.
Following their Wembley triumph, the club suffered from severe financial overreach, maintaining an inflated Premier League wage bill without the sustainable revenue streams required to back it. Poor recruitment strategies drained squad quality, leading to compounding PSR breaches, points deductions and a disastrous top flight relegation.
Instead of steadying the ship satisfactorily in the EFL Championship, the downward spiral continued unchecked. Further structural failures and defensive collapses culminated in back-to-back demotions, leaving the Foxes trapped in League One and sparking widespread fan fury directed at the club's hierarchy.

Indeed, supporters may now get their wish of a change at the helm; this writer would add the caveat phrase 'better the devil you know', just incase. However, judging by business in Thailand, which is reportedly deteriorating further, having a new owner appears preferable to suffering more from "Top" and rudderless Rudkin!
Financial Times is the, very trustworthy, outlet which broke the latest news that the LCFC hierarchy have 'sounded out' potential buyers for City. Though none of the parties mentioned bothered to, or had the decency to, comment to the publication upon request.

Top, the chair, is still allegedly wiping debt, or converting it to equity, so it cannot be said that he has abandoned the outfit yet. Citigroup investment bankers are now ostensibly seeking prospective suitors for LCFC.
Even if this is the end of the relationship for the Srivaddhanaprabha family and Leicester, the good times must be remembered most of all. And what a ride it was for a while - the support's wildest dreams came true!
