Amid the demise of Kim Kardashian’s grandmother, MJ Shannon, Lewis Hamilton posted a series of pictures from his vacation with Kim. A carousel of images featured the Formula 1 star, socialite, and her kids. Meanwhile, the timing of the post appeared quite insensitive to some social media users who criticized the couple in the comments section.
An hour before Kim Kardashian’s mother announced her mother, Mary Jo ‘MJ’ Shannon’s demise, Lewis Hamilton posted the vacation dump with a caption, “hold your people close.” In a series of pictures, the couple, along with Kim’s children, could be seen enjoying quality time as they hiked, swam, rode jet skis and watched movies together.
In one of the images, Hamilton’s niece Willow and nephew Kaiden were also seen planting a kiss on his cheek. In one of the many pictures, the couple was seen posing alongside Kardashian’s son Psalm and daughter Chicago.
Simultaneously, Kim also posted a similar photo dump, describing it as “lake life” with pictures also featuring Kendall Jenner and Khloé Kardashian.
The timings of these posts coincided with Kim’s grandmother’s demise, and the internet couldn’t stop slamming her. A user said, “Kim sweetie ur grandma just died.” Another user commented, “Didn’t your grandmama just pass? This couldn’t wait until the weekend?”
A third user predicted, “Somebody’s publicist is getting fired,” while another remarked, “Didn’t MJ just die and you’re posting this? WOW.” One more chimed in, “Girl, what about your grandma!?”
Responding to all the criticism, the reality show star clarified that it was a pre-scheduled post and she had been with her family for the past week. She said, “This post was scheduled a few days ago before we lost MJ, so its timing came right alongside her passing. I’ve been by my mom and grandma’s side this past week, and my heart is completely with my family right now.”
“We love and miss her so deeply, and in the days ahead, we’ll be focusing on celebrating her beautiful life,” she further added.
Soon after her clarification, the internet users empathised, as one user noted, “What unfortunate timing for a pre-scheduled insta post after seeing Kris’s post from the same time.” Another commented, “Y’all know well enough by now – these posts are scheduled.. C’mon..”
Another user insisted, “Do you guys really think she would post this intentionally at the same time as the news of her grandma’s passing? It’s clearly a scheduled post. Get a grip.”
On Thursday, July 16, Kris Jenner confirmed the news of her mother’s demise at the age of 91. However, the Rolling Stone notes the cause of her death yet remains unknown.
