President Donald Trump has raised serious questions inside the White House after security information leaked to the public. Reportedly, he ordered an aggressive internal search for the source of a damaging leak after reports emerged about security concerns surrounding his new Qatari Air Force One.
According to Atlanta Black Star, White House staffers are allegedly being asked to turn over their phones to investigate the security leak. Trump’s Chief of Staff Susie Wiles and FBI Director Kash Patel are understood to be heading this operation. It all started when the POTUS went to the NATO summit in Turkey in his new Air Force One, a luxury Boeing 747 gift from Qatar’s royal family.
However, while flying back from Turkey, he had to switch to his older version of Air Force One due to security concerns. Reportedly, the new AF1isn’t as equipped in terms of security as required for a president. When Trump left from Turkey, he had also reignited the U.S.-Iran war, so the Secret Service thought it was essential that the 45 47 fly back in a safer option.
The new plane was left in England, and the 80-year-old said he left it there to allow U.S. troops to tour the jumbo jet. However, The New York Times broke the story, saying the last-minute swap was a security issue. As such, a part of 47’s drastic measures to find out who leaked the information also include subpoenaing four New York Times reporters who worked on the story.
Wiles and Patel are understood to be in charge of widening the probe and finding out who leaked security concerns about the new Qatari plane. According to reports, Patel was on his way to Chicago when he was called back to lead the investigation into who snitched. After Trump’s response, many people took to social media to react. One user joked, “Check the Signal chat too,” referring to a group security scandal in 2025. Another added, “Sums up this treasonous criminal administration.”
Meanwhile, many others pointed out how useless the entire stunt is. One user said, “They can never manage to focus on what’s important, never.” While another added, “Glad the US government is focusing on such important matters such as protecting t’s fragile ego and BS jet bribe.” This comes as the president is understood to have spent $400 million on security upgrades for the new Air Force One.
It is alleged that taxpayers’ money will be used to upgrade the plane. Additionally, Trump plans to take it with him when he leaves in 2029. Reports suggest he wants to display it at his future Miami-based presidential library. However, many people have argued he wants to use the plane for personal use.
After the subpoenas, Times White House correspondent Maggie Haberman also commented on the investigation. She said, “In this case, the subpoenas were not a last resort, which is typically what they’re supposed to do when there is an alleged leak hunt. This time it came within 48 hours of the first story being published… This was something that was quite known in Washington. It was not a surprise.” She added, “This is not just issuing subpoenas; it’s sending federal agents to people’s homes.”
