It's a longstanding regimen Clark doesn't want to break.

WNBA fans desperate to see Caitlin Clark in the 3-Point Contest at All-Star Weekend will have to wait.

Despite an invite from the WNBA, Clark reportedly has declined to participate in the marquee shooting event when it is held at Wintrust Arena in Chicago on Friday.

Unlike last year, it isn't injury that is imperiling Clark's participation in All-Star Weekend events -- or in the All-Star Game itself, which will be held at United Center on Saturday.

MOREWhy Caitlin Clark declined invitation to participate in WNBA 3-point contest

The possible reason for Clark's reported refusal to participate in the 3-Point Contest has nothing to do with the Indiana Fever superstar's 3-point percentage (which ranks 37th among qualified players) or her 3-pointers made per game (seventh in the WNBA).

It may stem from Clark's own practice routine, as Sports Business Journal's Tom Friend reported in 2025.

Last year, the NBA was interested in having Clark square off against Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson during All-Star Weekend.

Clark declined the invite -- reportedly, because she does not like shooting from a ball rack.

"Sources said Clark is not interested in shooting 3-pointers off of a ball rack -- considering her practice regimen consists only of catch-and-shoot 3-pointers or shots off the dribble," Friend wrote.

The 3-Point Contest then is a significant departure from Clark's own training regimen -- and three years into her career, the format of the event may well remain unappealing to her.
